Pleasant Hills Police Investigating Attempted Child Luring

PLEASANT HILLS (KDKA) – Police are investigating an alleged attempted child luring in Pleasant Hills.

According to police, the incident took place in the 100-block of Orchard Drive around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Two white men in a gray pickup truck allegedly asked two boys if they wanted a ride. The boys, ages 5 and 7, were riding their bikes at the time.

"About 6 o'clock last evening, these two males were driving slowly down Orchard Drive, and as they passed, they asked the kids, 'Do you want a ride?'" said Deputy Chief Sean Greene, of Pleasant Hills Police. "They said the truck went down to the next cross street, Glenburn Drive. They turned around and went back passed them, but didn't say anything on that return trip."

The suspects are believed to be in their 20's or 30's.

The passenger was described as having short red hair, while the driver was said to have short black hair.

"What alarms us is that they went down and went back again," said Chief Greene.

The children went home and told their parents, who then called police that night.

Police spoke to the boys separately and their stories matched, especially when it came to describing the men and the vehicle.

"Gray pick-up, open bed, nothing in it, regular cab, just the standard, run of the mill pickup truck," said Chief Greene.
