9 Pit Bulls Rescued From Beaver Co. Home
ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) – Nine pit bulls, most malnourished, were rescued from a home in Beaver County.
The dogs were found at a home on McMinn Street in Aliquippa.
Reportedly the owner of the dogs was a tenant in the home, but no longer lives there. The owner of the house lives in Mars, but was unaware of the situation.
"This is just ridiculous," said neighbor Shirley DelTondo. "Pet lovers are tired of people having pets and not taking care of them I mean I have two boxers. I just lost one of my boxers and I'd never think of doing something like this."
In all, nine dogs were taken, including seven puppies and two adult dogs.
The puppies appear to be malnourished.
Sources say the interior of the home was filthy and that just last year a dog was found dead in the yard.
"A lot of feces, first floor, second floor, all through the house, urine," said Aliquippa Police Ofc. John Lane. "We did find a large 50-pound bag of dog food hidden in a closet. But really bad smell, probably 100 degrees in there even though it's nice outside."
The mother of the dog owner was there when authorities were on scene removing the dogs.
She did not want to talk about the matter, but did have some harsh words.
KDKA'S Harold Hayes: "Ma'am, do you want to tell us what this is all about?"
Mother: "I ain't telling you (expletive). Don't ask me no damned questions. How about that?"
Any charges the dog owner could face won't be filed until at least Friday.
