Pittsburgh Man Gets Life, Plus 30 To 60, For 2 Killings

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to life plus 30 to 60 years in prison for two murder convictions earlier this year.

Twenty-year-old James Lawrence was sentenced Wednesday by an Allegheny County judge for killing 28-year-old Tiona Jackson and wounding a man as they left a bar in February 2013. He was convicted of first-degree murder and other charges earlier this month.

Jackson was a mother of six. Another man, 24-year-old Dorian Peebles, was also charged in the shooting and will stand trial later this year.

In March, Lawrence was convicted of third-degree murder in the shooting of 21-year-old Steven Lee Jr. Lee was pulled off a party bus and fatally shot a month after Jackson' s shooting.

Lawrence was also charged with perjury Wednesday for testimony in the Lee trial, and is awaiting trial on unrelated drug charges.

At the time of his arrest in August 2013, Lawrence was also wanted in the shooting death of a 28-year-old woman in Beltzhoover.
