Steelers To Honor Jerome Bettis
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced plans to honor former running back Jerome Bettis during their Thursday Night Football game against the Baltimore Ravens on October 1st.
The Steelers will be presenting the Hall of Fame running back with a "special ring" during the ceremony.
According to Post-Gazette Steelers writer Ray Fittipaldo, it's no coincidence that Bettis will be honored prior to a game with the Ravens.
During his Steelers career, Bettis rushed for 10,751 of his 13,662 total career yards, good for sixth among all-time NFL leaders. The Bus also rushed for 78 touchdowns while wearing the black and gold (he has 94 total career touchdowns).
Both his rushing yards and touchdowns with the Steelers ranks second in team history in the regular season.
Bettis was also a six time Pro-Bowlers, was voted first-team All-Pro twice, second-team All-Pro once and was the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 1996.
Bettis will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton this year.
