Man To Stand Trial In Indiana Co. Child Abuse Case

INDIANA (KDKA) – A man appeared in court Tuesday, accused of beating a child so severely that doctors believed the boy was in an automobile accident.

Brandon Green, 26, allegedly attacked the 6-year-old boy after he refused to take his ADD medicine.

Investigators said the incident happened in an Indiana townhome on West Pike Road in March.

Green allegedly squeezed the boy so hard he vomited. He also allegedly kicked the child in the head, face and abdomen repeatedly, which caused serious internal injuries.

Initially, Green told police the boy fell down the stairs.

"There was no evidence presented today that Brandon was the one who did this," defense attorney Justin J. Ketchel said.

Two witnesses took to the stand to counter to say this was more than an accident.

The child's mother, Stephanie Green, took the stand as well. Police say Stephanie Green allegedly tried to cover for Brandon. She is free on bond.

Brandon Green was held for trial on aggravated assault charges and criminal attempted homicide.

He's in the Indiana County on $100,000 straight cash bond.

The child is continuing to recovery from his injuries.
