Local Air Force Officer Laid To Rest

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The body of an Air Force officer returned to Pittsburgh Saturday.

A special military ceremony was held for Lewis Barkley, III.

He drowned while with his family in Myrtle Beach on July 4.

Barkley was a Tech Sergeant in the Air Force, and graduated from Apollo Ridge High School.

He'll be buried at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

He leaves behind a wife and four kids.

Barkley was 36 years old.
