Budget Deadlock Approaching 3rd Week With No Talks Planned

HARRISBURG (AP) - No negotiations between the Wolf administration and leaders of the Legislature's Republican majority are scheduled as Pennsylvania's budget stalemate approaches its third week.

No major votes are anticipated when the Senate reconvenes Monday afternoon for the first time since June 30, the day that the 2014-15 state budget expired.

Gov. Tom Wolf vetoed the budget plan approved by Republicans without any votes from Democratic lawmakers. Wolf was outside the capital Monday, touting his budget agenda at schools in Bellefonte and Pittsburgh.

The administration lost some of its authority to spend state funds because no budget is in place. That includes payments to nonprofits and county agencies that help administer Pennsylvania's social-services safety net.
