Driver Injured After Truck Slams Into Home On South Side Slopes

SOUTH SIDE SLOPES (KDKA) – A truck slammed into a home overnight on the South Side Slopes.

Six people live in the duplex that was hit.

The driver of a truck slammed into the building just after 1:30 a.m.

It happened on Pius Street, which is a one-way street with a blind bend.

The building is more than 100 years old and a woman inside the home said she thought she heard a train because the impact of the car into the house was so strong.

"Another person had opened his car door and he just flopped to the ground and was laying there and he was breathing, but he was pink," said Beverly Boggio, who lives in the building. "And so I was on the phone trying to get 911 here as fast as possible, because I didn't know how hurt he was."

No one else was injured in the crash.

The driver, 41-year-old Jose Gostavo Oria Romualdo is facing several charges, including DUI – General Impairment, Criminal Mischief, and Drivers required to be licensed.

The driver was treated and released from the hospital, then was transported to Allegheny County Jail.
