Many Steelers Staying Quiet About Brady Suspension, But Fans Are Weighing In

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – On their first full day in pads, the Steelers are concentrating on football.

Ask about Tom Brady's battle with the league, and you don't get much of a response.

"Right now, we're just trying to come together as a team at training camp; we'll let the other stuff play out for itself," said Steelers defensive back William Gay.

The team might be refraining from providing whiteboard material for Foxboro, but Steelers fans are not so reserved.

"A quarterback knows how the ball feels in his hand, and if it doesn't have enough air you can definitely feel it. So, I think he was wrong," said Pat Thomas of Robinson Township.

"Whatever penalty he got, it was not enough. It was dishonest, and non-sportsman like. I'd make him sit out for half the season," said Linda Zello of Tucson, Arizona.

Black and gold fans find the league's claim that Brady smashed his cell phone a smoking gun.

"He broke the cell phone then and there, he deserves the four games and that's good for the NFL," a fan said.

KDKA's John Shumway also has more on how the Steelers and fans are dealing with the hot weather at Training Camp:

Steelers fans know football talent when they see it, it is what brings them to Latrobe. So there is a tinge of respect that enhances the disappointment in this NFL marquee player.

"I thought he should have manned up months ago when it happened, now he's just tarnished himself in my opinion more than he already was," said Lucy Barone of Carrick.

"Bad example for our youth, I'm an educator," said Louise Baker of Kittanning.

"I just think he's a cheat, I think the Pats have cheated for a long time, and they will continue to cheat," said Pat Pikoulas of Butler.

"It seems like they are always accused, or you find out they were cheating, and I think this is the right thing to do, it sends a message to the rest of the league," said George Pikoulas of Butler.

"I know he's a good quarterback and he's not going to play when we play them, and that's a good thing. That's all that matters. That's all that matters," said James Wade of State College.
