Former Steeler Accused Of Abandoning Dog At Baltimore Kennel

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A former Steeler is being accused of abandoning his dog in a Baltimore kennel.

He not only left behind the dog, but left the owner with a huge bill.

Zeus is a 6-year-old Cane Corso, described as a gentle soul.

For nearly nine months, the dog has lived in a Baltimore Day Care called Pooches and Purrs.

The people there say former Pittsburgh Steeler Chris Kemoeatu abandoned the dog there and that he owes the business $9,000.

"I know that he's had some medical issues," said kennel owner Renee Mason. "I was trying to be understanding, but he's just taking advantage."

The medical issues she is referring to is Kemoeatu's kidney failure.

He talked about it in a news conference last year.

The owners of the doggy day care say the two brothers told them they were moving back to Hawaii and that they would send for the dog, but never did.

Pooches and Purrs says the brothers opened a gym in Hawaii.

Baltimore TV reporters reached out to the brothers, but received no phone calls.

Now the owner is considering giving Zeus away.
