Todd Haley Shares 2 Major Goals For Steelers' Offense In 2015

LATROBE (93-7 The Fan) – Steelers Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley sat down with "The Fan Morning Show" during their live broadcast at training camp on Thursday, to discuss the state of his offense as it prepares for the 2015 season.

Haley discussed a couple of his goals for his unit this season, the first of which is developing a more consistent ground attack.

"What we're trying to do - and make sure happens this year - is eliminate some of the inconsistencies in the run game," Haley said. "That's an area that, when we went through in the offseason, we said, 'Man, we had some really good days running the ball, but too many bad days that then made us kind of just average.' And we really believe that another year of everybody being together... that we should be better in that area."

Haley also said he's hoping to see the offense stop squandering its opportunities to put points on the board.

"Taking points off the board, so to speak," Haley said. "We've got [Shaun Suisham], who's a very, very good kicker. You feel like, when we get inside the 35, we'd better minimum come out with three points. And too many times, especially in the first half of the season, that didn't happen. I've said it a bunch, but I did the study about halfway through the season where we sacked ourselves out of field goal range, we turned it over, we had a penalty... everybody gets caught up in scoring touchdowns, but if we had just kicked field goals, you could have added 35 points onto our total at the halfway mark."
