NewsRadio 1020 KDKA Editorial: Attorney General Kathleen Kane

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane should have been prepared.

This has been coming for months.

The A-G was accused of leaking information from an investigation –

To a Philadelphia newspaper –

Then lying to a grand jury about it.

The grand jury recommended charges against Kane and –

The case was turned over to the Montgomery County District Attorney.

Now the DA has filed charges against Kane –

Including perjury –

Official oppression –

And obstruction of justice.

Back in June - we said Kane should resign if charged.

It would not be – as she insists –

An admission of guilt.

We agree with Governor Tom Wolf –

Who's a Democrat like Kane.

He says she's entitled to her day in court –

But she can't function as Pennsylvania's top law enforcement officer –

And focus on her defense.

The reality check?

If Kathleen Kane doesn't go willingly – she can be forced out.

That's not good for her –

The Office of the Attorney General –

Or the taxpayers and citizens of Pennsylvania.

Right now, Kathleen Kane can only best serve Pennsylvania by resigning from the State Attorney General's office.
