Steelers Return To Practice After First Pre-Season Game

LATROBE - (93.7 The Fan) - Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin seemed pleased with the enthusiasm at the first practice back from the 14-3 preseason loss against the Vikings on Sunday.

"Good afternoon of work getting back out here on the field working and very much in the manner of which we worked prior to our first game," Tomlin said. "Working some situations, red zone, third down, no huddle things of that nature just general enthusiasm, got a lot of guys back today."

James Harrison traded in the sweat pants for pads today for the first time of the 2015 training camp and Tomlin said he thought his presence changed the climate of practice.

DeAngelo Williams, Martavis Bryant and Markus Wheaton also worked their way into more participation at practice.

The Steelers signed former Cleveland Browns kicker Garrett Hartley prior to Tuesday's practice after he completed a tryout with Jay Feely. According to Tomlin, the decision was based on performance.

"He's an established guy he's a been there done that guy, he did a nice job today and we will get to know him a long the way," Tomlin said.

Hartley replaces Shaun Suisham who tore his ACL during Sunday's game. His surgery is scheduled for Wednesday and Tomlin said he will update his status following the procedure.
