Man Dies In Hospital After Rankin Shooting

RANKIN (KDKA)- Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Rankin this morning.

The shooting happened around 4 a.m. in the 100-block of Miller Avenue.

The victim has been identified as Donald Jenkins, 35, of the North Side.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said she didn't see a shooter, but she heard gunshots in the early morning hours.

"I'm standing in front of my sink, drinking my juice, all I can hear is pap, pap, pap," she said.

Police from Rankin and Swissvale were at the scene along with Allegheny County crime scene investigators.

"I'm very new in the neighborhood. I know nothing about this side of town, so I'm watching everything," said the neighbor.

A longtime resident of the area says it's not often that there is violence in the neighborhood.

Neighbors say the victim, known as D.J., was the boyfriend of a woman who lives on Miller Avenue. Police investigators searched inside and outside the home for evidence, took pictures and talked to neighbors as part of their investigation.

Neighbors say they won't rest, knowing the killer is still on the loose.

"Not comfortable at all, not comfortable at all," said the woman who heard the gunshots.

An autopsy on Jenkins' body is scheduled for today. Meanwhile, police have not released any information about a suspect.
