Baden Police Force Will Stay According To Tentative Agreement

BADEN (KDKA) -- For the next three years Baden police are here to stay.

The contract was signed literally minutes before Thursday's night's meeting took place.

A tentative agreement was made so the borough doesn't have to merge with neighboring police departments like Conway, Harmony Township or Ambridge, or get eliminated all together.

"Baden Borough in Beaver County is the fifth highest tax community in Beaver County based on school districts, county and borough taxes," Baden Borough council member Michael Stuban said.

This is why he says something needed to be done or residents in the borough would have seen a tax increase.

However, that shouldn't happen with this new agreement.

Baden police officers will experience a pay freeze among other things that they can't reveal yet.

"We're all looking to work together here to save the borough money and save our jobs and police department," Sgt. David Alvarez with Baden Police said.

With the turnout at tonight's meeting, residents showed that they certainly appreciate their police.

"They don't hesitate to check the premise out or help someone with a phone call," Baden resident J.R. Adams said.

"This day in age there is not a lot of support for police. There is more bad than good. This means a lot," Alvarez said.

Baden Police and borough council will officially vote on contract next week.
