EXCLUSIVE: Teen Vigilantes Take Neighborhood Watch Into Own Hands

CANONSBURG (KDKA) – Two teenage boys put a new twist on neighborhood watch.

And although they got their man, police say what they did was risky, but are glad they got involved.

"It was that, you're right there, right there and that's where we held him down at," said friends Cameron Cashdollar and Cameron Fontenot.

And that's how 37-year-old Anthony Adams was taken down by two teens. They took a picture and called police.

"We were just sitting in the living room and we saw this guy shine a light into the back of my house, so we followed him all the way down the street," said 15-year-old Cameron Cashdollar.

Cashdollar and his best friend, 16-year-old Cameron Fontenot, were having a sleepover. They were up just after 2 a.m. watching TV.

"When I first confronted him, he was actually trying to run," said Fontenot. "I stopped him and then he swung at me, so that's when I took him down."

He said the man was much bigger than them and it took the two teens to take him down.

Both Camerons will be juniors at Cannon-McMillon in the fall. They told KDKA-TV's Brenda Waters that as they followed the suspect, he was wearing all black and rifling through unlocked cars – and even offered them some of the loot.

"He was like, 'I'll give you the change, just let me go, just let me go,' all that kind of stuff," said Fontenot.

When the 911 call was made, North Strabane Township police came out in full force.

"There were five police cars here," said neighbor Joyce Sabatine.

"We were in bed and heard all this noise last night and I looked out of the window and saw a whole bunch of kids, or men, and didn't know what was going on," she added.

The teens had some advice for the suspect, Anthony Adams too.

"We just took you down," said Cashdollar, "and we're only 15 and 16 years old."

"Don't come to our neighborhood," said Fontenot.
