Pittsburghers Prepare For Pope's Visit To Philly With "Faithful Towels"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Many faithfuls from our area are getting ready to head to Philadelphia next month to see Pope Francis.

Some are going on diocese-arranged trips.

And Saturday they met at St. Paul Seminary in Crafton.

They plan to get the Pope's attention by using a familiar Pittsburgh icon.

They'll waive a black and gold towel called "The Faithful Towel."

"We wanted to have a way for Pittsburghers to show their enthusiasm not just for Pope Francis, but for his message to serve the poor," said Helene Paharik with the Dioceses of Pittsburgh. "We wanted for Pittsburghers to find one another among the 2 million that will be in Philly and we wanted people watching on TV to be able to spot us. So that was the thought behind the Faithful Towel."

The Pope will be in Philadelphia Sept. 26 and 27.
