Man Facing Assault, Abuse Charges After Baby Suffers Multiple Broken Bones, Head Injuries

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police in Westmoreland County have charged a man in a case of alleged child abuse that left a 1-year-old boy with multiple broken bones and other injuries.

Armani Armstrong, 1, is recovering from severe injuries. His neck is in a collar, both his arms were broken and he also suffered head and skull injuries.

Greensburg Police have charged 31-year-old Tyron Keyshawn Moore with causing those injuries.

"It's a lot of anger," says Eric Armstrong, the child's uncle. "It shouldn't have happened. I don't know, I'm really distraught, actually."

Eric Armstrong is the brother of the child's mother, Leeanne Armstrong. The alleged abuse happened at her home on Fox Hill Street.

Authorities say Moore was watching the baby while the Leeanne was at work. When she came home, she discovered the baby's injuries. Moore said the baby fell off a child riding toy.

"That was no accident. This man intentionally injured that child," says the baby's uncle.

According to the family, Leeanne immediately tried to get the baby medical help. However, Moore allegedly wouldn't let that happen.

"He refused to let her out of the house," said Eric. "He wouldn't let her leave, he wouldn't let her out of his sight."

But Leeanne was able to finally call 911. Armani was taken to the pediatric intensive care unit at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

"His two arms were in casts, he had a lot of bruising on the top of his head. And that's, I guess, that's caused by the bleeding in the brain," Eric said.

Greensburg Police arrested Moore who is now charged with felony aggravated assault, simple assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

"I have no words for the man," said Eric. "I hope justice takes its course, you know, and he gets everything he has coming to him."
