2 Teens, Pregnant Woman Shot In Rankin

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The gunman opened fire around 8 p.m. in an alley, wounding the three victims, a woman who is four-and-a-half months pregnant and two teenage boys.

Lt. Andrew Schurman, of Allegheny County Police, said the three were all in the backyard or on the back porch of a home in the 100-block of Oak Way, just a block from the Rankin Police Station.

"There was a 17-year-old male, a 19-year-old male and a 28-year-old female, all we believe with non-life-threatening wounds. However, the female was pregnant," Lt. Schurman said.

The shooter was in an alley nearby, shooting in their general direction.

Neighbors say they heard a dozen or more shots ring out.

All were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, according to Lt. Schurman.

Jonetta McCowan, the mother of one of the wounded boys, says the gun violence has got to stop because it's destroying lives.

"This just needs to stop, you know, all this gun violence and all this killing and murders, it just needs to stop. Thank God my son is going to survive, but it just needs to stop here," she said.

She said he told her "it was a walk-by shooting, not a drive-by shooting."

McGowan said the unborn child of her nice appears to be okay.
