Police Investigating Shooting Of Teenage Girl In Northview Heights

NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS (KDKA)- Pittsburgh police are investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old girl in the city's Northview Heights neighborhood.

The shooting happened shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 1400-block of Chicago Street. According to police, the girl was shot while in the basement of a home.

The girl was transported to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Later Wednesday, police say they arrested 18-year-old Joseph Cleckley, Jr. in connection with the shooting. He was taken into custody 11:30 a.m. at police headquarters.

Police say the victim had been visiting him when the shooting happened.

Cleckley faces charges of aggravated assault and two counts of reckless endangerment.
