Man Accused Of Killing Friend While Adjusting Gun He Kept In His Underwear

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP)- A man has turned himself in for a deadly weekend shooting, where the victim was dropped off at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital.

On Saturday, police were called to UPMC Magee Womens-Hospital where a victim had arrived with a gunshot wound. The victim, 19-year-old Robert Alston, later died from his injuries.

Police lifted fingerprints from the car. On Sunday, they matched prints in the back of the car to Eietyoung Kemp, 19. That same day, Kemp arrived at police headquarters and said that the shooting was an accident.

Kemp told detectives Dominick Hall, Justice Johnson and the victim all picked him up to go to a party. Kemp got in the back seat and was sitting directly behind Alston. Kemp told police that he was attempting to adjust the gun that he kept in his underwear, when it went off.

Alston was hit in the back by the bullet. Kemp told detectives when he heard Alston scream in pain he took off running. He told detectives he ran back to the North Side and threw the gun in the Allegheny River while crossing the Roberto Clemente Bridge.

Kemp has been charged with criminal homicide, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
