6-Ton Potato Makes Stop In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Yes, it's real and it's spectacular.

The world's largest potato is in Pittsburgh this weekend.

It's 72 feet long, 12 feet wide and 13 feet tall.

The giant spud is on a tour across the country to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Idaho Potato Commission.

They brought it to Wholey's in the Strip Saturday.

"We pick various causes that we can go to, we can help out with and we go to events, letting people known that the potato is still healthy," said Adam Branstetter with the Idaho Potato Commission.
The potato's in town through Monday.

It weighs six tons – or the equivalent of 32,000 medium sized potatoes.

You could make more than 1.5 million French fries out of it, or 30,000 servings of mashed potatoes.
