Westinghouse H.S. Coach On Leave After Allegedly Injuring Student

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An assistant high school football coach is on leave because a student claims he was injured by the coach during practice.

A spokesperson for Pittsburgh Public Schools says school police have turned this investigation over to Pittsburgh Police, and in the meantime, the assistant coach has been put on leave.

Spokesperson Ebony Pugh says a student at Pittsburgh Westinghouse High School may have been hurt during football practice when one of the team's assistant coaches was admonishing him.

Pugh won't say what type of injury, and she didn't know if the student had to go to the hospital.

The incident allegedly happened Aug. 13, but wasn't reported to the school until Aug. 25.

Pugh says the alleged misconduct was also reported to ChildLine, a hotline to report child abuse.
