Trailer Released For Will Smith's "Concussion" Shot In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The trailer is out for Will Smith's new movie "Concussion," which was shot in Pittsburgh.

The trailer features shots of Heinz Field, the Point and other Pittsburgh locations.

Last fall, movie crews were spotted all around the city filming scenes for "Concussion."

It's not all that uncommon these days, with more movies being shot in the city.

But this one hits home for Pittsburghers.

The Oscar-nominated actor plays a former Allegheny County medical examiner who discovered a link between football-related brain injuries and dementia, during Iron Mike Webster's autopsy.

While the movie will also shed light on a football epidemic, it's also been a boost to the local economy. The film industry has brought in millions of dollars over the past four years.

The trailer for "Love the Coopers," also shot in Pittsburgh last year, came out this month too.

The movie was called "Let It Snow" during the filming, but now it's called "Love the Coopers," and in the trailer you can't miss Pittsburgh International Airport, Boyce Park, and the Shop 'n Save in North Huntingdon.

Flo Silbach can't wait to see the film. At 85-years-young, she played her real life role as a waitress at Pamela's.

"I was in the movie on Monday in four scenes, Tuesday I was in three, and Wednesday I was in one scene," said Silbach.

A lot of Pittsburghers can make those kinds of claims these days as we watch a series of major films hit the big screen between now and Christmas, all filmed here in places like Smithfield Street.

"Starting back with 'Me and Earl [and the Dying Girl],' 'Concussion,' it's great promotion for the city, and it's great economic development," says Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto.

A billion dollars since 1990 says the mayor, and he's hopeful Harrisburg will come through with more tax credits.

"If we get a permanent tax credit structure, we can see this industry grow even more," says Mayor Peduto.

But for now, standby for Pittsburgh in "The Last Witch Hunter," "Fathers and Daughters," Love the Coopers," and "Concussion."
