State Police Looking For 2 Men In Alleged Attempted Luring In Derry Twp.

DERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police are investigating after two men allegedly tried to grab two young girls riding their bikes in Westmoreland County.

Elizabeth Sims says her 9-year-old daughter and her friend were riding bikes in the 300-block of Smithfield Extension in Derry Township when the alleged incident happened.

"They pulled up in their truck," says Sims. "She had a beverage in her hand while she was on her bike, asked for the beverage, my daughter kind of stood there like, I'm not quite sure about this, and that's when the gentleman reached out and grabbed her."

The two girls screamed and took off, as did the suspicious strangers.

"I raised my daughter to be very smart," says Sims. "Told her to always be aware of her surroundings, make sure she's attentive to details."

The 9- and 8-year-olds gave troopers the following descriptions.

The vehicle was a white pickup with one black stripe running along each side. There was damage to the front left quarter panel and rusted rims.

The passenger was an African American male in his 40s with short brown hair. He had a white tee-shirt with a wolf on it. He had a black baseball hat on with a red and yellow star detail.

The driver, who allegedly tried to grab Sims' daughter, is described as a white male, approximately 40-years-old, with short black hair. He had a goatee and had a black tee-shirt with a beer bottle on it.

As for the girls, both are going to be just fine.

"I don't think I let go of her for 24 hours," said Sims. "[You] can't let your guard down, ever."

There have been reports of the same individuals trying to do this is other parts of Westmoreland County over the last few months.

State police say if you know of this duo give them a ring as fast as you can.
