Coroner: 2 Dead In Connellsville Crash

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- An elderly man and woman were killed in an accident Tuesday afternoon in Fayette County.

According to emergency officials, it happened around 3 p.m. on Springfield Pike in Connellsville.

State police identify the victims as 81-year-old Alice Temple and 82-year-old Edward Baronie, both of Champion, Pennsylvania.

According to police, Temple was driving her Ford Taurus south on Springfield Pike when the car left the roadway and hit a tree in a wooded area off of the road.

According to the Fayette County Coroner's Office, the victims died at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours in both directions while officials investigated and cleared the scene. But it has since reopened.
