Police: Baby Injured After Being Ejected From ATV With 2 Drunk Adults

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – In Fayette County, a couple from Dunbar Township is under arrest after state police said they were operating an ATV while drunk, and their 18-month-old son, who was on the quad with them, was injured.

The toddler, Alexx Ritenour, was flown by medical hospital to UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he's listed in stable condition.

State Police said the boy was with his mother, 25-year-old Krystal Hall, and his father, 24-year-old Eric Ritenour, on a quad riding around Laurel Mall off Route 119, in Dunbar.

State Police got a call that the couple appeared to be drinking. When a patrol car arrived on the scene, Hall and Ritenour took off, and ended up in a field after striking some debris, and ditches.

All three of them were thrown from the quad, but the two adults were quickly taken into custody.

They face charges including DUI, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Nikki Lewis of Dunbar, reacted to the incident saying, "A child shouldn't be on a quad, or anywhere near it, especially when there's drinking and driving [involved].

Another woman said Ritenour and Hall "shouldn't be parents, the kid should be taken away from them."

An unidentified man put it more bluntly, saying, "Lock them up, throw away the key."

Hall and Ritenour are now being held in the Fayette County Jail in Uniontown. A preliminary hearing has been set for them on Sept. 22.
