UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- A Fayette County couple accused of refusing to get help for a teenager after one of them allegedly lit him on fire were in court Wednesday.

Taking part means people actually set themselves on fire and post the video on Youtube. But in this case, a woman's accused of setting her stepson on fire.

Connie Kirby, 37, and William Kirby, 41, from Redstone Township, ran from TV cameras as they headed to court.

Kirby's biological mother is glad he got his day in court.

"This is about my son getting burnt, and his dad overlooking it, and just thinking it was okay," said Candra Burkes, Tre's mother. "And even acknowledging that he had a son "

The accusations are that Tre was set on fire with rubbing alcohol and a cigarette lighter.

"He's attacking my kids, and he's going to pay for it," said Burkes. "Even if he don't get no time, God got him. God got him."

Tre Kirby suffered burns on his legs, buttocks and back. The burns became infected.

Connie and William Kirby have been held for trial.
