Officials Looking For Cause of Early Morning Fire in Cecil Township

CECIL TOWNSHIP (KDKA)- Crews were called to a fire in Cecil Township, Washington County, early Friday morning.

The fire started around 2:30 a.m. at a home at the corner of Blakemore Drive and Millers Run Road.

When crews got on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames and a car was on fire. A second house was endanger of catching fire too.

"Flames were basically coming out of every window and door opening," said Cecil Twp. Fire Chief Ed Povirk. "The neighboring house did have their vinyl siding burned off, a significant amount of heat from this sized fire."

A man inside the home had to escape the flames through a front window. He suffered injuries during his escape and was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital for treatment.

One firefighter suffered some minor burns while fighting the fire.

The fire was brought under control around 4:00 a.m. by around 40-50 firefighters.

The house was flattened and is a total loss. The state fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause.
