Bomb Threat Called In To Aliquippa School By Apparent Adult

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) -- Thursday night was open house at Center Grange Primary School in Aliquippa for kindergarten, first and second grade students and their parents.

But what was supposed to be a beginning of the school year tradition came to an abrupt halt when this call came into the center township emergency center:

Emergency Dispatcher: "911 what's your emergency?"

Caller: "Center Grange middle school, two bombs inside the school."

"The caller indicated there were two bombs in the school," Chief Bill Kramer of Center Township said. "There was some type of school function at the school and everybody was evacuated out in about five minutes."

Police searched the building and found it to be clear. But the open house came to an abrupt end.

Notices were sent home on Friday alerting all of the others parents about what happened.

Parent Linda Ruckert, was concerned but not nervous.

"I was concerned," she said. "Obviously I just assumed that someone was just trying to be funny, you know, but yeah, I was concerned. Obviously, my kid goes to school."

Jamie Wellman, was saddened by the ordeal.

"It made me cry, because who would do that?" she asked. "It's sad"

In a statement today Central Valley school district said:

"It is unfortunate somebody tried to ruin open house for our K thru 2nd grade students. We evacuated the building and were impressed with the way our parents and staff responded."

But police want to track down who is responsible. Krammer said, most threats are from kids.

"This is an after school event, that called in by an adult with unique -- we have the actual call, the voice patterns. So hopefully somebody will hear this and might recognize that person."
