Suspicious Package Sends Bomb Squad To Penn State Greater Allegheny Camus

McKEESPORT (KDKA) -- The Allegheny County Bomb Squad was called to the Penn State Greater Allegheny campus in McKeesport Wednesday evening after a suspicious package was found.

Officials say someone spotted the package behind the Frable Building on campus.

The building was evacuated and the lower campus had to be sealed off.

Traffic was rerouted away from the campus.

On their website, school officials said:

"Campus has closed. No evening classes or campus activities Wed. Sept. 30. Stay away from the Frable Building until further notice."

After a thorough investigation, authorities on the scene gave the all clear signal around 7:20 p.m.

"The Allegheny County Bomb Squad has examined the suspicious package found on the campus this afternoon, and determined it was not an explosive devise," said Linda Curinga, of Penn State Greater Allegheny. "No injuries have occurred, the campus is secure, and we will have normal business tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 1."

School officials say classes will resume Thursday.

There's no word on what was found in the package.
