Carbon Monoxide Kills 1 Man In Baldwin Home

BALDWIN (KDKA) – Emergency crews were called to a home in Baldwin for a carbon monoxide death Monday afternoon.

According to emergency dispatchers, the incident happened at a home in the 5100-block of Wilock Road around noon.

According to officials at the scene, an 89-year-old man pulled into the garage last night after evening Mass.

He's been identified as Chrysostom Huebner.

Huebner closed the garage door, but accidentally left the car engine running. The car eventually ran out of gas.

"When they arrived on the scene, they found the police department who reported, they thought this might be a carbon monoxide emergency," said Baldwin EMS Chief Todd Plunkett. "They could smell exhaust inside the house. Obviously you can't smell carbon monoxide, but they knew something was wrong."

When he didn't meet his daughter for lunch Monday, she went to the house to look for him.

She was overcome by the fumes and had to go to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
