Hundreds Participate In Annual Touch-A-Truck Event

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - There are so many ways to tell that fall has arrived.

Your favorite coffee flavor is back, the leaves are starting to change colors, and the Pirates are back in the playoffs.

But, there's another tell-tale sign fall is here for people in Pine-Richland – Touch-A-Truck.

Whether you are four, or significantly more, this seven-year-old event is a smashing success.

"Big trucks you don't get to see every day, and it's for kids to come and see and touch and interact with all the vehicles that they see on the road and play with their little vehicles and don't actually get to see them," Pine Township Program Coordinator Meagan Quail said.

It has become a fall tradition.

"It ended up being quite a hit and on our better weather days, we ended up with hundreds and hundreds of children," Heidi McMurry said.

There were police cars, cement mixers, dump trucks, plows and even front-end loaders, an ambulance and fire trucks too.

One of our KDKA-TV news trucks was a big hit too.

"Well, I think you just made his day that he actually got to hear himself and see himself on a camera. So, that was pretty cool," Melissa Martinez said.
