Man Who Founded Operation Safety Net is One of CNN's Top 10 Heroes of 2015

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- A local man who is well-known for offering "street medicine" for the homeless is now up for a big award.

Jim Withers founded Operation Safety Net back in 1992 here in Pittsburgh. He and his team deliver blankets, hygiene produts and food to people in the streets. Withers and his team also help find them housing.

His selfless work has him in the running for CNN's 2015 Hero of the Year. He is one of ten finalists for the award.

The winner gets $100,000 to further their charitable work.
