Police Probe Shooting Death In Arlington

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - Authorities in western Pennsylvania are investigating a shooting death in Pittsburgh.

Police say the man was shot multiple times at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the Arlington neighborhood of the city.

Justin Granda, 28, of Mt. Oliver, was shot multiple times in the 2800-block of Arlington Avenue.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Luis Rodriguez said he found Granda on the sidewalk in front of his house.

"I went down and looked. You can tell there was so much blood that I was going to check for a pulse, but you can tell there was no needing it," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez was sleeping when he awoke to the sound of gunfire.

"First, I heard maybe 5-7 shots and it paused for a minute. Maybe 7-8 shots as I stuck my head out the window after the first time," Rodriguez said.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner says Granda died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

"After that, I heard someone run up the side of my house," Rodriguez said.

"We have very little information on this situation. We don't know what happened and we really are encouraging the community to step forward. That can help lead to the closing of this case," Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

Rodriguez hopes a suspect is caught. However, he said there's a bigger issue behind all of this.

"I just think it's something to do with the drugs around here. That's why all this violence is going on," Rodriguez said.

He said it's only a matter of time before an innocent woman or child gets shot. However, Rodriguez, who's lived at his house for 15 years, said he's staying put.

"After I [saw] this, it really didn't affect me because all the violence, you figure I'd be upset shaking about it. It happens so frequently it's like an everyday thing now," Rodriguez said.

If you have any information on the murder, you're being asked to call Pittsburgh Police.
