Ramon Foster: Chargers' Timeout May Have Won Us The Game

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Steelers' OL Ramon Foster couldn't sleep on Monday night.

After the Steelers' thrilling final-second victory in San Diego and a long flight back to Pittsburgh, you would think that Foster would be tapped out. But instead, he was wired, still riding the high on the game's exhilarating finish.

Foster had been planning to get some sleep and postpone his usual Tuesday interview with "The Fan Morning Show" until Wednesday, but with the adrenaline relentlessly pumping through his veins, he wanted to jump on as soon as possible.

Foster appeared on the show just two hours after the team plane landed in Pittsburgh, and of course, he talked plenty about the final play of the game.

Foster said that as much as the Steelers had practiced that play, it almost didn't go as planned.

"We've done that a lot lately," Foster said. "The last two weeks, we've practiced that wildcat in a major way...we ran it well and ran it well, too. And the play before that, you know, when [the Chargers] called the timeout? It's good they did, because Marcus [Gilbert] said he thought the snap was on '2' instead of '1,' so it's a good thing that the Chargers called timeout, because Gil might have been late off the ball right there."

Foster liked the idea of going for broke on the final play.

"I'm glad we did," Foster said. "I don't think any of us looked to the sideline and thought we were coming off the field. It was weird. Everybody was calm. Everybody just knew that we had a job that we had to do and we were ready to do it."

Later, Foster also commented on the way that Steelers fans took over Qualcomm Stadium.

"It was absolutely insane," Foster said. "For that to be an NFL team - and no disrespect to San Diego whatsoever, they were a great team, great city, and everything - but it has to be a sign of disrespect to those players for their fans not to come out and support them, and to have another team come in and force your home team to go on a silent count. I'm very happy I play for Pittsburgh. Our fans are the greatest in the world and they travel every single place we go."

The interview can be heard here:

Foster usually joins "The Fan Morning Show" Tuesdays at 8:03 a.m.
