Kauffman's Antiques On Display At Heinz History Center Next Month

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- Macy's has donated more than 100 historical items to the Heinz History Center, and beginning on Nov. 20, the center will showcase some of the items on the museum's fourth floor special collections gallery.

Mayor Bill Peduto and representatives from Macy's revealed objects recently donated to the museum on Thursday.

"The good news is the History Center is in the memory business. That's what we do. We collect memories and we preserve them for future generations," said Andy Masich, President and CEO of the Heinz History Center.

What used to be Kaufmann's for more than a century and then Macy's is just a shell of the former department stores. There are signs that lead to what used to be and stairs that go nowhere, but still, it's iconic and filled with memories.

For many, the exhibit was like a stroll down memory lane. From the chairs to the tables, and even the old Tic-Toc clock. Kauffman's antiques can now be seen at the Heinz History Center.

In June, Macy's announced they were shutting their doors after 10 years of service to the downtown Pittsburgh area. The entire building was sold to a company in Philadelphia who have plans to redevelop it.
