Fresh Line Paint Causing Problems For Moon Twp. Motorists

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A fresh line-painting job by PennDOT has turned into a nightmare for at least one local driver.

The culprit seems to be painted yellow lines from Ewing Road to Hookstown Grade Road in Moon Township.

One man's SUV suffered scratches when he tried to remove the paint. Additionally, the paint is not coming off his tires.

He's upset that there were no signs warning drivers about the fresh paint.

"What I'd like to see is to be reimbursed if there's any damage, damage done from the paint, number one. Number two, any damage from taking off the paint on the paint job. I'd like to see PennDOT reimburse me for those damages and those troubles," Derek Pollard said.

PennDOT says it repaints road lines every year due to fading. They will be working all this week, painting new lines in Moon Township, Findlay Township and Coraopolis.

The fast-drying paint is supposed to be set in two-to-three minutes.

PennDOT suggests the following for getting fresh paint off of your vehicle:

"Motorists who accidentally get paint on their vehicles should immediately wash the paint off with a high-pressure water stream and detergent. Dried paint can be removed with de-natured alcohol and a soft cloth."

PennDOT is not usually responsible for paint on vehicles. However, Pollard plans on filing a complaint with PennDOT.
