Police: Medical Van Driver Sexually Assaulted Teen Passenger

UPPER ST. CLAIR, Pa. (AP) - A medical van driver has been jailed on charges he stopped to have sex with a 13-year-old female patient he was driving to a mental hospital commitment.

A Med-Van Transport spokesman says Tuesday the company has no immediate comment after being "blind-sided" by the charges against 26-year-old Scott Weimer, of Altoona.

Weimer was driving the girl from a Johnstown hospital to Southwood Hospital in Upper St. Clair when police saw the van parked along the road about 4:30 a.m. Monday.

When an officer stopped to see if the driver needed help, they found Weimer and the girl putting on their clothes. Police say in a criminal complaint that the girl appeared "lethargic" and "unable to care for herself."

Weimer faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 19 on charges including statutory sexual assault. Court records don't list an attorney.
