6 Dogs Affected By South Carolina Flooding Get New Lease On Life Locally

EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) – Six dogs have gotten a new lease on life after being rescued from extensive flooding in the South Carolina.

Earlier this month, up to two feet of rain fell in a five-day period, which caused unprecedented flooding events to occur.

As a result, many people and animals have been displaced.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue set up an emergency relief center at its headquarters in Ashville, North Carolina.

After weeks of coordinating with the Animal Rescue League, six dogs arrived in Pittsburgh Wednesday afternoon.

"Over the past several years the Animal Rescue League has accepted dogs from areas of the country that needed homes due to natural disasters, hoarding, or dog fight situations," Dan Rossi, Executive Director of the Animal Rescue League, said in a statement. "To date this number exceeds 120. We now have the opportunity to help these dogs displaced in South Carolina due to the catastrophic flooding."

The dogs, which include a corgi-mix, a beagle and a chihuahua, will be available for adoption after a five-day quarantine period.
