Woman Found Safe After Going Missing While Hiking In McConnells Mill State Park

SLIPPERY ROCK (KDKA) -- Rescue crews found a young woman who went missing while hiking Thursday evening in a desolate area of McConnells Mill State Park.

Police say 23-year-old Lindsay Dickie, from Valencia, called 911 around 6 p.m. to report that she had gotten lost and was disoriented. Her phone then went dead.

"She had been missing and disoriented. She made one phone call to 911. Unfortunately, her cell phone died and we don't have any communication with her at this time," said Assistant Park Manager Jake Weiland.

Crews focused their search specifically in the Slippery Rock Gorge area, which can be a very treacherous, rugged area.

"We're focused on the Eckert Bridge area near Breakneck Falls," said Weiland.

Dickie was found off of one of the main hiking trails. She was not seriously hurt in any way, but did have a slight ankle injury.

Dogs were also brought in to help the search teams.

Dickie's car was located before she was found.

Authorities say her family was also called to the scene. It took crews about an hour to rescue her from the area where she got lost.
