Woman Wanted For Allegedly Beating Stowe Twp. Man With Hammer

STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are asking for the public's help to locate a woman accused of beating a man in a wheelchair with a hammer in Stowe Township.

After hearing a man's pleas for help, neighbors called police to the Ohioview Towers apartment building around 2:40 a.m. on Nov. 3.

"He was yelling for help, and then when they got into his apartment, the girl that was helping him said, 'Who did this?' and he said the person's name," said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.

When police arrived, they found 41-year-old Antwan Ross suffering from head trauma. He was taken to a local hospital and was last listed in stable condition.

"He laid in his room," the neighbor said. "They said blood was everywhere, they said the blood was heinous. It was terrible."

During the course of their investigation, it was determined that Lavette Johnson repeatedly hit the man in the head with a hammer.

An arrest warrant has been issued and Johnson faces a list of charges including attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

The neighbor we spoke with is not the only person in the building who says they believe the attack was drug-related. They also say the building is becoming unsafe to live in.

"Money, drug money, wanted money for drugs, and he was an easy target because he was in a wheelchair," the neighbor said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the County Police Homicide Unit at (412)-473-1300.
