Get Marty: Couple Says Contractor Took Money, Didn't Build New Deck

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The Canterburys wanted to get married on the new deck attached to their new home in Moon Township.

"We wanted to have a nice wedding, in a brand new house, brand new deck, with family and friends. We couldn't do it," says Kacey Canterbury.

The couple hired Deckmasters to put a $25,000 deck on the back of their home. But the Canterburys say the builder took their money.

"It just spiraled out of control," says Ralph Canterbury.

Three families reached out to Get Marty with similar complaints.

We went to Deckmasters founder Pat Nicholson.

"I cannot accept this kind of work. I fired the franchise owner. I promise this will be taken care of," says Nicholson.

Nicholson brought in his own crew to finish the Canterburys deck. He also paid a $2,000 deposit for another family.

The Deckmasters founder stepped up big time.

"We are overwhelmed. We are so pleased," says Kacey.

Nicholson says his company has built thousands of decks and stands by his work.
