Holiday Shopping Kicks Off On Thanksgiving Day

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Turkey Day is no longer just Turkey Day anymore. It's a day when many people kick off their holiday shopping.

There was a line of customers waiting for the doors to open at 6 p.m. Thursday at Target in Ohio Township.

One woman in line wanted to buy toys, saying "Thanksgiving Day shopping hasn't become a tradition for me yet, but it may become one."

Other shoppers were buying TVs and computers at Best Buy in Ross.

Parking lots were nearly full at the Tanger Outlet Mall in South Strabane Township in Washington County, where stores opened in the early evening.

Some stores, like the K-Mart in Monroeville, opened early Thanksgiving morning. One K-Mart shopper said, "Anybody that gets up this early has to be crazy, you're looking for bargains you don't really need!"
