Pittsburgh Named A Top City 'On The Rise' In The U.S.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A travel site named Pittsburgh as one of the top cities "on the rise" to visit in the United States this year.
Pittsburgh was ranked as number 8 out of 10 cities on TripAdvisor's 2015 Travelers' Choice list of "Top Destinations on the Rise" in the United States.
TripAdvisor says Pittsburgh "has come a long way from its gritty, industrial past." It lists the Waterfront and the city's sports stadiums as attractions of interest. It also mentions that the city could be appealing to history buffs, mentioning Point State Park and the incline.
After Pittsburgh on the list were Portland, Maine, and Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Gatlinburg, Tenn., was first on the list.
Last year, TripAdvisor named PNC Park the top ballpark in the country, and just this summer, Metropolis Magazine named Pittsburgh one of the most livable cities in the world.
