Die-Hard Steelers Fan Wins Ford Truck Contest

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Steelers gave fans plenty of reasons to cheer on Sunday as they came from behind to beat the Denver Broncos.

But, one fan started cheering long before the game kicked off.

"We had approximately over 80,000 entries to win the official truck," Neighborhood Ford Store Chairman Joseph Thurby said.

A Steelers fan who works at Penn State in State College was the big winner.

"Congratulations to you and your family. This truck goes at least 400,000 or 500,000 miles so you are going to have it forever. Thank you for entering and being a great customer. We really, really appreciate it. Congratulations to you and your family," Ford Motor Compant Vice President Mark La'Neve said.

Tom Kase works as an architect by day, but it's his involvement with fantasy football that led to his big win Sunday.

"Playing in a fantasy league with some buddies back in Reading, and this ad came up and figured I would plug it in because I had it right in front of me. I just entered one time. That's all it took I guess," Kase said.

La'Neve came to town for the announcement. He's is originally from Beaver Falls so he knows all about the power of the black and gold.

"A terrific thing and our dealers here have just done a great job with this activation. The entire association with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which was great for us at Ford Motor Company," he said.

As for Kase, he wasn't even sure he could believe it when he got the call from Ford that he had won.

"I figured it was a sales call. I knew I entered the contest. I figured I gotta call this guy back and he's gonna want to sell me something and then they said black or white and it got real," he said.

Now, he has something he can drive every day in State College to show his Steelers pride.
