Pittsburgh Police Recruit Arrested On Child Abuse Charges
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police say one of their recruits has been placed on administrative leave and is facing child abuse charges.
According to police, recruit James Foster is facing one count each of simple assault and endangering the welfare of children.
The charges come after investigators say Foster's 6-year-old son was treated by doctors at Children's Hospital for bruises on his thigh. Police say "an assessment of the injuries determined that the child was the victim of physical child abuse."
Police say Foster was in the process of completing field training.
He was arrested via summons and is now on unpaid administrative leave.
The investigation was conducted by the police bureau's Child Abuse Unit and the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office.
