Police Investigating Fatal Shooting In Garfield

GARFIELD (KDKA) – Police say an 18-year-old was shot during a street fight in Garfield Thursday, and now they're trying to figure out how two different vehicles play into the investigation.

"That ain't supposed to be, not the mother burying her kids," a neighbor said.

But Thursday in Garfield, on Christmas Eve, a mother will be planning a funeral for her 18-year-old son Carlos Clark.

"I would like to give her a hug and tell her I know what she's going through," neighbor Carol Patterson said.

Patterson knows all too well what this mother is going through. Patterson just lost her son, 22-year-old Regis Jones Jr., to a shooting in Wilkinsburg on December 10.

"My heart goes out to her because they got the guy that got my son," she said. "I hope they get justice for this young man right here."

Police say a fight broke out on Broad Street just before noon.

"So far in this investigation, we believe this was a large street fight," Pittsburgh Police spokesperson Sonya Toler said. "And apparently during that fight, the victim was shot in the head."

Either a blue or silver BMW was seen leaving around that time, but police aren't sure if that car is connected. However, a white GMC Yukon with a smashed-out window is part of the investigation.

"People have told us it was smashed out overnight, but we don't know where it fits into the puzzle," Toler said.

Neighbors say the violence is getting out of control.

"We, as a community, need to stand up," Corrie Smith of Garfield said. "It's Christmas Eve, and everybody's supposed to be joyous and happy. And what do we stand here doing now? We stand here talking about somebody's death."

Police are talking to witnesses to try to piece this all together. If you have any information on this shooting, you're asked to call Pittsburgh Police.
