Several Sent To Hospital After 3-Vehicle Accident

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Several people were sent to the hospital Thursday morning after a three-vehicle accident in Penn Hills.

The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Rodi Road.

A woman driving an SUV struck the back of a vehicle that was stopped, waiting to make a left-hand turn. The SUV then went into the opposing lane of traffic, where it struck a Lexus head-on.

The woman had two young children with her in the SUV. They were sent to Children's Hospital to be checked out for minor injures. The two adults who were in the Lexus were taken to UPMC East.

"I had plans for Christmas Eve, I was gonna stop and get some donuts," said the driver of the vehicle that was struck. "I was just sitting here, and I just looked up in my rear view mirror, and [the driver of the SUV] was flying. And then she slammed into this other car, and she tore my whole tire off."

The driver of the vehicle that was struck had her 17-year-old daughter, younger son and a grandson with her in the car. None were seriously hurt.

No one involved in the crash was reported to be in serious or critical condition.
