Man Accused Of Assaulting Woman In Aliquippa Stabbed, Arrested

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) -- It was a tense few minutes in Beaver County Wednesday afternoon after an alleged physical assault led to a stabbing and the arrest of a suspect.

Officers stood by with guns drawn. The whole incident lasted just minutes when they took the suspect, identified as Tyaire Lee, into custody.

Just after 12:30 p.m., police officers were called to Wade Street in Aliquippa.

Investigators say a woman claimed that she and a man got into a fight in a home there. It started with some yelling, but escalated when Lee allegedly began beating her.

Police tell KDKA's Heather Abraham the woman reached for whatever she could to defend herself; it just happened to be a kitchen knife. Police say Lee suffered a few stab wounds and injuries.

Within a matter of minutes, police from neighboring townships and state police responded to the house.

A be-on-the-lookout alert went out for the man involved. Police even sent out notices to nearby hospitals in case he turned up.

Just as police started to go door-to-door, an officer went behind the row of homes on Wade Street and found the man they were looking for, taking him into custody without incident.

Police say neighbors a few doors down were attempting to treat Lee for his injuries when police found him.

KDKA cameras were there at the Aliquippa Police station as he arrived with officers. Paramedics arrived to treat him and he was later taken to an area hospital.

Police say Lee will be facing charges of aggravated and simple assault.

Police have not said how badly injured the woman was. It does not appear that she is facing any charges.
